Another episode this week as promised. For the most part, I feel like I have my mic issue resolved, but this should be resolved by the new mixer I am getting for Christmas from my brother’s family. Topics for today include some thoughts about major and non-major media outlets getting into podcasting, why does MSN suck, a little talk about hockey, and email feedback about beer, which results in a story about an experience I had in Mexico at the age of 17.

RZ#58 – New Years in Vancouver; The Flu; Hockey Talk

Happy New Year! Running straight into 2006, I hope you can handle this episode of RadioZoom. In today’s episode, I talk a little about my new years celebration in Vancouver, being sick with the flu, some hockey discussion, email feedback about Canadian beer, and the music you’ve come to expect from me.

I’m still stuck with this awful headset, but not for much longer. I made some changes midway through the podcast, so you can notice a difference in my voice as it goes on. I already recorded the whole episode, so I’m putting it out anyway. I have a Christmas present coming from my brother in the next few days, so watch for the quality of my podcasts to get much better.

There’s new snow on the mountains! I said that I would post this picture in the show notes, so here it is. This is good news for the local skiers, which I’d try to be one of if I had health insurance.

RZ#57 – Soundseeing of Christmas Shopping in Vancouver

Another podcast, another experiment in being mobile. This time I take you with me as I do some Christmas shopping in downtown Vancouver. I’m getting better at being a soundseeing tour guiding, but not much. I’m just trying to do something new, different, and creative with my podcasts.

As a side note, I must apologize for this coming out later than it should. The holidays were a set back, but now I’m just getting over a flu bug that has pass through Rebecca’s family. I was bound to get it, and it has not been fun. I edited this all together today just to do something creative and feel normal.

All music in this episode come from mexican electronic music artist, Vate. Please click on the link and visit the website for more information.

It’s a bit late in the outgoing, but I guess you could call this my Christmas episode. I talk about a variety of things in this podcast. Holiday shopping, a little bit of hockey talk, and some email from fellow podcasters. Even got a little bit of Rebecca in on this episode. Remember, her birthday is on January 9th, so send me all your birthday wishes now to help make it a good one.

Merry Christmas and thanks for listening!

It’s another trip in the car with Rebecca for this episode. We were heading out to Ikea for some Christmas shopping, and I took the opportunity to do more experimenting with being mobile. We discuss a wide range of topics mostly regarding to Vancouver in my attempts to not only help educate myself, but also share the tidbits of knowledge that I’m learning about this area every single day. I swear that somedays Rebecca must get annoyed with the amount questions I ask her on a nearly daily basis. No music once again for this episode, aside from the background noise from the car stereo which allowed for a great segue for the last bit of this episode.

RZ#53 – Robson Street Soundseeing

Direct download link

This was my first experience ever doing anything mobile. I have a not so great lapel mic and a portable minidisc recorder. I was on the way to meet Rebecca and some friends for a movie, so I recorded the sounds of walking from the apartment to the movie theatre. I do some talking a long the way but have lots to learn about being a good tour guide. I hope you enjoy the sounds of Robson Street in downtown Vancouver. Oh yeah, and I know I called it “The Secrets of Narnia”, so please forgive my error. It’s the “Chronicles of Narnia.”

This episode had lots of ups and downs within its creation, but I’m not one to take something I made and not do something with it. This is going out a little later than what has been expected of me lately. I have no excuses other than just having other things in my life preoccupy my time. We start out with a little talk about the Vancouver Canucks, debut the first ever installment of Zoom In Tech, and finish up with listener email. As always, great music for you to check out, played with permission.

Zoom In Tech is a segment I will do from time to time about things in the world of technology that are important to me or that I just find cool. It’s a way for me to share information with you, but I am far from an expert. It’s just another passion that I have in my life.

RZ#51 – Car Ride and Rebecca’s First Time on the Podcast

Direct Download Link | |

Direct download link

This episode is an experiment and adventure all rolled into one. While on the way to Port Moody this afternoon, I started recording on the minidisc. It’s the first time Rebecca has ever been apart of the podcast, the first time I’ve used this equipment to do anything mobile, and a lot of us just giggling and having a good time on our way to pick up her mom. Rebecca is always telling me little facts about Vancouver, so my hope is to do more of these types of things in the future as we venture around the lower mainland. Also, this is encoded with slightly better quality since it is not very long.

Being that this is something new that I’m trying, I’m dying for feedback. As you might be able to tell, sometimes we just get carried away. Welcome to episode #50, eh? Today’s release marks an important announcement regarding the future of this podcast and music. As much as I love the coffee, I couldn’t help but make some observations about the coffee culture around Vancouver. I swear that none of the coffee chains and or establishments mentioned had any stake in this episode. Also, some audio feedback and email from listeners. And Apple responds regarding my lack of being listed in their iTunes Podcast Directory.
