Some soundseeing, mobile recording, and messing around while Rebecca joins me for a bit of wandering through Stanley Park. We discuss a little bit of the history of the park, venture into some favorites spots of ours, and head into the bush to see what else there is off the trails. With no plans of where to go, we didn’t know what to expect or what we would come across. FYI, Stanley Park is 1,000 acres, and New York’s Central Park is 843.

RZ#103 – Metroblogging Vancouver Meetup

The podcast digs deeper into the make up of this city as I go mobile to the Metroblogging Vancouver Meetup in Stanley Park on July 18, 2006. Typically a monthly event, fellow bloggers for the local edition of the site gather up to hang out face to face in order to know thy fellow contributers. Rebecca joined the group of authors earlier this month. As her guest, I brought along the recording equipment to kind of document the occasion, but more so to meet more people that call Vancouver home and like to blog about it as much as we do.

This is a long episode, but there was a lot of interesting stories and comments that I just didn’t feel like editing out. Only one piece of music featured in this one, but I used a variety of music from Vate, Troubled Hubble, Sebadoh, and John Vanderslice to bridge between some of the segments. This is the first time I have done anything like this, and I had a lot of fun. Feedback is more than welcome!

A long episode to mark this milestone, Rebecca and I talk about the history of this podcast, thoughts on the medium in general, and hang out without any plan in mind. Every method of recording that I have the capability for was used in this episode. We start out at in English Bay, head back home to the “studio”, and toss in a recording we did while sunning ourselves on the beach during Canada Day weekend.

I want to say thanks to everyone who has had played a role in the history of this podcast, from the beginning to now. You know who you are, and I will refrain from listing everyone out in the fear of omitting some one. It’s been fun, and I’ll keep on keeping on with the podcast.

A packed epsiode that started on the Queen of Coquitlam ferry as we made our way back to Vancouver from the Sunshine Coast. I did some brief soundseeing on the ferry as we came into Horseshoe Bay on that Saturday, but Rebecca and I didn’t finish this episode until Tuesday where we recap the running events we participated in over the weekend. We finish with some Hockey Talk about the Stanley Cup and Memorial Cup.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo! I took my minidisc with me while I ventured around the city in the pursuit of my immigration paperwork. The adventure ended up taking more time than I expected, so you come along with me while I walk into the heart of downtown Vancouver to meet up with Rebecca after work. I also got some music into this mobile, a rare occurance in such previous episodes.

Minidisc and microphone packed along for the trip, Rebecca and I take some time to review our trip to the Okanagan, things we did during our stay, and the route we drove to get there. There’s quite a bit you can do in the Okanagan, but we went for the wine tours. Since it’s been a while that Rebecca has been on the podcast, we also took some time for hockey talk. We also chat about some of the supernatural legends in B.C and some of the other areas in the interior.

It’s another trip in the car with Rebecca for this episode. We were heading out to Ikea for some Christmas shopping, and I took the opportunity to do more experimenting with being mobile. We discuss a wide range of topics mostly regarding to Vancouver in my attempts to not only help educate myself, but also share the tidbits of knowledge that I’m learning about this area every single day. I swear that somedays Rebecca must get annoyed with the amount questions I ask her on a nearly daily basis. No music once again for this episode, aside from the background noise from the car stereo which allowed for a great segue for the last bit of this episode.

RZ#51 – Car Ride and Rebecca’s First Time on the Podcast

This episode is an experiment and adventure all rolled into one. While on the way to Port Moody this afternoon, I started recording on the minidisc. It’s the first time Rebecca has ever been apart of the podcast, the first time I’ve used this equipment to do anything mobile, and a lot of us just giggling and having a good time on our way to pick up her mom. Rebecca is always telling me little facts about Vancouver, so my hope is to do more of these types of things in the future as we venture around the lower mainland. Also, this is encoded with slightly better quality since it is not very long.

Being that this is something new that I’m trying, I’m dying for feedback. As you might be able to tell, sometimes we just get carried away. Please send an email or audio comment to radiozoom [at] gmail [dot] com. Also, send your mp3’s of music you’d like to see played on my podcast to the same address.
