RZ#75 – Soundseeing in the West End; Bus to Downtown; Robson Street

Running an errand for a friend, I brought the minidisc with me while buying gourmet cupcakes for Laura’s mom’s birthday. Cupcakes on Denman St. is a pretty neat place, and I recommend getting some goodies from there if you have some cash to spare. From there, I hop a bus to give you a sample what that type of experience is like. We’ll do a little walking around downtown before I head back up to Robson Street to finish this recording. Forgive my addictions, but I had to duck into Blenz for a chai latte as well.

RZ Video Podcast #4 – All Around the Lower Mainland

Another experiment into video, this podcast is a collection of videos that I have made over the past few months with my digital camera. The quality of the video isn’t the most superb, but I am attempting to use what I have to create as much original content that I can. I’m also doing my best to show you more of Vancouver, BC through my Iowan eyes.

This video takes you through downtown Vancouver, shows what a snowy day in New Westminster and Surrey is like, driving through downtown, over the Pattullo Bridge, the Trans-Canadian Highway at night, over the Lions Gate Bridge in the dark, and ends in Coal Harbor during sunset.

Music used in this video podcast:

  • Vate – stravinsky (The RadioZoom Podcast theme music)
  • Vate – marimba
  • Grigor Iliev – winter story
  • Vate – patria / extranjero

The experiments continue as I take a short journey into Stanley Park for some soundseeing. We start out in the west end of Vancouver, down to English Bay Beach, head over to Second Beach, take some trails into the park, and end at Lost Lagoon. I have included the pictures you can hear me taking through out the episode here in the show notes.

RZ#73 – Now On iTunes!; Wedding Recap; Interview For Manuel

I’m listed in iTunes now! Yay! Back to regularing programming, I take a moment to reflect on our wedding a little bit while apologizing for the last episode being very crazy. Alcohol and podcasting isn’t such a great mix. Also, Manuel Lopez from over in London, England wanted to conduct an interview with me, so he emailed me the questions for the project and I podcasted my answers for him to use. Interesting material, a tad self serving, but content for you ears. This episode ends with listener feedback from Cosmo of the Clubside Breakfast Time Podcast.

RZ#72 – At the Table with Don Deeley and Rebecca

This is raw, unscripted, no music, and as real life as it gets. The first podcast since getting married, Don Deeley is in town to share his thoughts and experiences about being in Vancouver for a week, attending our wedding, and being the DJ/MC at our reception. After a night of a little alcohol and some hockey, we sat down at our dinning room table to chat a little. Listen to it all, fast forward the slow parts, or just wait for the next episode when it comes out. We’re tired, silly, having fun, and exhausted from the events from the past weekend. That’s life!

RZ#71 – Podcasting for Kids; Hockey and the Olympics; MIA For a Bit

GarageBand 3 appears to be so simple to use that even my nephew and niece can make their own podcast. I share a little bit of what showed up in my email last night. Amazing what kids can do these days. We’ll also dive into the olympics a little bit to talk about hockey, plus the other events of the games that I’m enjoying.

Since Rebecca and I are getting married very soon, I cannot promise anything in terms of episodes for the next few weeks. I take a moment to share what you can expect from me once the festivities simmer down a little bit.

This episode comes with the announcement of a complete site redesign for the show notes of the podcast. I put in a lot of work and effort into the new digs, but your comments are appreciated, more so if there are problems I need to address. Other topics for today, my experience watching olympic coverage on the CBC versus the American coverage I have been used to all my life. I also take a moment to share what other podcasts I have been checking out and think you should check out as well.

Site Redesign

As of last night, The RadioZoom Podcast has a new look and feel to it. I worked hard to understand how this new design will work in all aspects of the podcast. As you can see, there are some additions to the ways you can listen to my podcasts.

Feel free to download them as you usually would, or surf into the site and listen to them straight off the pages themselves. You don’t have to take up space on your hard drive, iPod, mp3 player, or anything else like that. Listen where ever and however you want to. At work, in the computer lab, or the internet cafe of your choice.

As with all changes, I’ll be working out the kinks as they come up. Please feel free to contact me if you have any problems. I’ll do my best to get them sorted out as soon as I can. I am in the process of getting all the old podcasts and show notes added back into this new setup. As some of you also know, I’m getting married soon, so please give me some time to get it all sorted out.

The 2006 Winter Olympics kicked off in Italy today. I share a little bit about what I saw during the live broadcast the CBC provided this afternoon and discuss these olympics in relation to the upcoming 2010 games in Vancouver. And while prepping today’s episode, my nephew came online with iChat. I took the opportunity to perform yet another experiment and record a conversation with him and his mother, Wendy. And by the way, Happy Birthday, Wendy!!! We also cover some listener feedback.
