John is back for a super special Six Song with a theme. In fact it’s so special, there are actually seven songs for your listening pleasure.

  • Dandy Warhols - Mohammed, Nietzche
  • Local H - How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Rock, 500,000 Scovilles, What Can I Tell You
  • Less Than Jake - Motto, History of a Boring Town

And yes, I produced this episode hence the many many seconds of non-speaking at the beginning. But hey, I don’t claim to be a radio professional by any means eh. Thank goodness for podcasting.

For the last 18 years the New Music West festival has been a centerpiece for independent music, musicians, and industry professionals in Vancouver.

I was able to contact Jory Groberman from 29 Productions (the folks who made New Music West possible for the last few years) and chat a bit about what’s in store. What’s also pretty cool is that they’re handing me a media pass for the event(s) so watch for more announcements and coverage in the month ahead.

I (Rebecca) take the helm of Episode #144 as I capture, edit and publish the audio I recorded with Keira-Anne a few weeks ago during a weekend jaunt to Vancouver Island. We put the call out on our blogs for questions - any questions and were very pleased with the overwhelming response. [Keira-Anne][Miss604]

This is actually part one and we’re uncertain when the raw, uncut “part two” will be released. So for now, enjoy the sounds of a BC Ferry, and two girls who are super excited to hit the powder up on Mt. Washington.

Putting together some sample audio for Rebecca’s segment on The Lab with Leo.

The episode about the basics of podcasting should be airing in late April or May, 2008.

This is some audio that we recorded last August after spending a weekend in Osoyoos, B.C. This audio has been sitting around for nearly six months, and I finally got around to editing it. There’s more where this came from, so look for more in the future.

There is still music in this one, as does every episode of RZ.

Flying blind with a case of the Mondays I just wanted to crank out an episode and play some kickin’ tunes. On top of featuring artists who all have concerts in town this month, I prepared some Vancouver trivia for John in honor of his 2 year ‘Vancouver anniversary’, which is just around the corner.

I, Rebecca, join John for this late, but ‘better-late-than-never’, episode of RadioZoom as we dedicate #138 to entirely Can-Con.

What’s Can-Con you ask? Well tune right in while we educate the masses about how broadcasters in Canada are required by law to give Canadian artists and Canadian produced music 35% of their airplay. We one-up these regulations and churn out 100% Canadian content and share six awesome tracks.

Thanks so much to Matthew Good for allowing us to kick off with tunes from his newly-released album, and to the other artists linked below whose music we found on IODA Promonet and the Podsafe Music Network.

A very quick, turnaround episode that we recorded in the midst of Rebecca’s Blogathon efforts. She is blogging to raise money for the Surrey Food Bank for 24 hours straight, one post per every thirty minutes. A daunting task fore sure, so be sure to check in on her site to find out more!

Hello. We’re back. Yes, we’re still here, and you’re along for another adventure into Stanley Park. We stop to give you some subtle updates of what has gone on since the last, “real” episode, and there are a handful of more artists that have granted permission to play their music on our podcast. Since we’re on the go in this entire episode, we don’t talk about the music as much as we explore the park. We even try to suck it up and actually walk out onto Lions Gate Bridge, the fear of heights being fairly strong for both of us. We end the day with some Vancouver Trivia back at home.

Also, if you dig the tracks by The Dandy Warhols, check out their show at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver if you in the area on June 1st, 2007.

RZ #130 - Sparta at The Commodore; Interview with Keeley Davis

Sparta @ The CommodoreMan do we ever love a good rock show. When I heard Sparta was coming back into town I immediately arranged another interview. Not only are we huge fans, but the guys in the band are so talented and down to earth. A couple of weeks later, the band rolled through town and played none other than the Fabulous Commodore Ballroom here in Vancouver. Jim Ward, subject of our last interview, was under the weather but when we went back stage and saw Keeley and were not disappointed. It was great to talk to the latest member of the band, contributor on their new album Threes, hear about his side projects and impressions of our fair city.
